TARZANA, CA, March 11, 2010 /Healthcare PR News/ -- The Center for Autism and Related Disorders, Inc. (CARD), a leading autism treatment organization known for effectively treating children with autism and related disabilities, will host comprehensive challenging behavior workshops, Effective Strategies to Administer Oral Medication and Toilet Training on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 and Overcoming Challenging Behaviors and Picky Eating on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at 1890 Palmer Ave., Suite 404 Larchmont, NY 10538. The one hour workshops are designed for parents, teachers and practitioners who are challenged by the difficulties of their child's picky eating, pill swallowing and lack of toilet training.
Dealing with children, mainly with autism who have these challenging behaviors can be extremely stressful. Workshop presenter and CARD Research Manager, Melissa Olive, PhD, BCBA-D will discuss the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and how ABA treatment can help overcome children's adversity in taking oral medication. Dr. Olive will also discuss the best approach for working with children who are resistant eaters in order to increase the variety of foods they will eat, as well as discuss the best approaches for teaching your child how to use the toilet.
According to Dr. Olive, "Many children with such challenging behaviors need assistance in areas that can be addressed on a short term basis, including refusing certain foods based on color or texture, engaging in tantrums at the grocery store, refusing to go to the toilet and refusing to take oral medication." Dr. Olive will share her expertise on addressing these issues. She will also teach the audience how to tackle these problematic behaviors at home or in school.
Each free workshop will be offered three times on their respective days.
