Laura Walsh has achieved success overseas and locally
VICTORIA, BC, CANADA, August 30, 2010 /Healthcare PR News/ --Laura Walsh, CFRE, Campaign Director for BC Cancer Foundation, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication and excellence in fundraising and leadership development.
Through 17 years of professional experience, Ms. Walsh has sustained a reputation as an accomplished fund development professional with a proven international track record in fundraising, strategic planning and leadership development. Fluent in Russian, Ms. Walsh worked in the former USSR in the early 1990's as Development Executive for the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. A trainer and speaker on topics including leadership, communication and fundraising, she currently serves as campaign director for BC Cancer Foundation's Inspire the World capital campaign. An independent charitable organization, BC Cancer Foundation raises funds to support breakthrough research and enhancements to patient care at the BC Cancer Agency. Utilizing her expertise in fund development, Ms. Walsh is currently leading a $10 million capital campaign for BC Cancer Foundation, where she has worked for over eight years.
Ms. Walsh received her Bachelor of Arts with honors in 1993 and attained her designation as a certified fundraising executive in 2005. She has successfully completed several programs at the Institute of Charitable Giving, and is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy and the Canadian Association of Gift Planners. Ms. Walsh was the 2009 recipient of Leadership Victoria's Distinguished Alumni Award, Top 40 Under 40 Award for Vancouver Island (2006) and National Team Work Award from Girl Guides of Canada. She attributes her success to the support she receives from her mentors.
