ATLANTA, GA, November 18, 2011 /Healthcare PR News/ -- Gary Sanford, Professor of Biochemistry at Morehouse School of Medicine, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in science and medicine.
An expert in medical biochemistry, cell biology and cancer biochemistry, Dr. Sanford has taught biochemistry at Morehouse School of Medicine for the past 21 years, attaining the rank of full professor 11 years ago. In his current capacity, he teaches graduate and medical students, directs courses in cancer biology and chemistry, and reviews grants for the U.S. Department of Defense and for cancer research. He previously served as director of the NASA Space Medicine Life Sciences Research Center at Morehouse School of Medicine and as a coordinator and principal investigator for the NASA Cellular Studies Group, also at Morehouse. In addition, Dr. Sanford has held adjunct faculty appointments at Clark Atlanta University and Georgia State University.
Dr. Sanford earned a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Brown University in 1978 and completed postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Miami and Yeshiva University. He is a member of numerous field-related associations, including the Georgia Academy of Science, American Society for Gravitational and Space Biology, American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, American Association for Cancer Research, and Sigma Xi.
Dr. Sanford has trained well over 75 high school, undergraduate, graduate, and medical students throughout his career, and finds it quite rewarding to mentor students and see them grow.
