Safety and Health Services was founded in 1995 by Christobel Downs and provides customized solutions for individual and business clients in Occupational Health Care related situations. Services range from health monitoring solutions and drug testing to health and safety plan writing and working safe training. The company has developed over the years into a successful business which has the necessary tools and resources to perform all types of services in the competitive sector of safety and healthcare.
Christobel Downs leads a healthy life practicing a number of sports including cycling, swimming, and walking. Therefore her occupation continues into her life influencing it in a positive manner. She is consequently an example among her fellow co-workers, friends and family. Christobel uses her lifetime experience as a source of knowledge and viable solutions. She runs her business in a personal manner ensuring that she provides clients with the appropriate solutions for their particular situation. She worked for almost 33 years at Wairau Hospital, the last 17 years being a Registered Nurse in the specialist field of Occupational Health and Safety. At the same time she has developed her own business for the past 16 years using her expertise and attributes for the benefit of the clients.
In her collegiate career, Christobel Downs obtained a Tutor's Certificate from the School of Advanced Nursing Studies, she earned a Post Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health from the University of Otago, New Zealand, and she has received a certificate in Advanced Business Growth and Development from Te Wananga o Aotearoa. She has been certified in Human Resource Management by the Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology and she has become a registered nurse with the Palmerston North Hospital. Christobel is a member of numerous groups and societies including the New Zealand Nurses' Organization, Occupational Health Nurses Association, the New Zealand Ergonomics Society, the Chamber of Commerce and is a life Member Power Talk (formerly Toastmistress).
