Elaine C. Pereira, MA, OTR/L, Named a VIP Member by Cambridge Who's Who for Excellence in Occupational Therapy
Elaine Pereira brings 31 years of experience as a school occupational therapist to her own practice
NEW BOSTON, MI, August 25, 2011 /Healthcare PR News/ -- Elaine C. Pereira, Occupational Therapist Consultant for Do The Write Thing, has been named a VIP member by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in occupational therapy.
With 37 years in the health care profession, Mrs. Pereira is an accomplished therapist in pediatrics and early childhood development. She has researched and developed her own consulting business, Do The Write Thing. In the midst of promoting her business, Mrs. Pereira conducts extensive networking and contacts surrounding school districts, with whom she aspires to share her knowledge of development for 3- to 7-year-olds in the areas of small muscle skills, visual perception and self-care.
Mrs. Pereira retired from The Taylor School District after 31 years of service. During her service as a school occupational therapist, she was asked numerous times to intervene on behalf of kids with poor handwriting. Known especially for her expertise in this area, she was bestowed a grant by the National Kindergarten Alliance, which she used to educate teachers on handwriting techniques. She thrives in a career that allows her to make a difference in the lives of children. She attributes her success to her awareness of past shortcomings, her openmindedness, and her willingness to learn from her peers and students alike.
Mrs. Pereira received a Master of Science in family and consumer resources in 1980 and a Bachelor of Science in occupational therapy in 1974, both from Wayne State University. She is a member of the Michigan Alliance of School Physical and Occupational Therapists and the National Kindergarten Alliance. In the coming years, Mrs. Pereira intends to conduct more presentations in the Michigan area and across the United States.
