A 20-year veteran of the education field, Johanna H. Estrella is best noted for her work with special-needs students. She has been with Plato R-V School District since 2002. Charged with teaching special education classes, she is responsible for developing individual lesson plans for 25 students and coordinating with paraprofessionals. Mrs. Estrella places emphasis on tailoring lessons around a student's particular challenge, be it a learning disability, a behavioral disorder or a health issue. She is deeply proud to be associated with a small school district that fosters a supportive family atmosphere among staff, students and parents. She attributes her success to her self-confidence and faith in God, and to the encouragement that she received from her parents.
Mrs. Estrella graduated magna cum laude from Walden University in 2007 with a master of arts in curriculum, instruction and assessment. She earlier obtained a bachelor of arts in education from Drury University. Her professional and personal affiliations include the Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society, the National Court Appointed Special Advocate Association, and Special Olympics.
